About Sharps Containers

Australian-Standard sharps containers for safe disposal of used syringes, needles, and lancets at home. AS 4031:1992-compliant rigid plastic with locking yellow lids and biohazard labelling - the same range pharmacies, GP clinics, and Australian community health services use.

Four sizes:

  • 0.6L portable - fits in a bedside drawer or travel bag. Around 30 standard insulin syringes.
  • 1.8L household - covers a typical TRT or semaglutide year. Around 100 insulin syringes.
  • 5L family/clinic - dual-protect lid, larger throat for draw needles and pen needles.
  • 7L commercial - same dual-protect lid in the largest household-legal size.

When the container is three-quarters full, click the lid into the locked position and drop it at any participating pharmacy - free under the National Return and Disposal of Unwanted Medicines (RUM) program. Never put used syringes in a household bin: bag plastic offers zero protection against a needlestick to a waste worker.
